A little about me

My name is Christopher, and I am the owner and Head Guide at Arctic Canoe and Snowshoe. I founded this company driven by my passion for the outdoors and my desire to help others build connections with nature. My mission is to guide and coach you toward becoming the safest, most skilled, and confident version of yourself in outdoor settings.

Based in Kuusamo, Finland, I work as a professional wilderness guide and educator. Holding both British and Finnish citizenship allows me to bring a unique perspective to outdoor exploration. My academic background includes studying and teaching Outdoor Education at universities in Finland and the UK, and I’m a qualified Outdoor Education teacher in both countries.

With years of hands-on experience, advanced training, and a genuine enthusiasm for sharing my knowledge, I aim to inspire people, prioritize their safety and encourage a deeper connection with the natural world.

My qualifications include several high-level coaching certifications across land and water-based adventure activities, such as mountain leadership, climbing, rafting, and sailing. I’m particularly proud of being a 5-star sea kayak and open canoe leader accredited by British Canoeing (UK paddling), as well as a Level 4 coach in sea kayak and open canoe disciplines.

We use my expertise, experience and knowledge to generate meaningful educational adventure experiences. Environmental education through sharing nature experiences in a sustainable way. Teaching people how to stay safe, tread lightly and leave nothing but footprints.
